Laurel Highlands Alpacas
Farm Overview
Laurel Highlands Alpacas is a small alpaca farm in Pennsylvania dedicated to raising healthy alpacas and producing high-quality alpaca fiber products. From raw fleece to finished goods, we work with our alpacas’ fiber at every stage—shearing, sorting, washing, spinning, and creating beautiful items you can wear or craft with.
Founded by textile enthusiast and dressmaker Julie Follansbee, our farm grew from a lifelong love of fabric and fiber arts. After studying textiles at the Fashion Academy of Pittsburgh and working with luxury fabrics from around the world, Julie developed a deep appreciation for alpaca fiber—known for its softness, strength, warmth, and natural luster.
Today our small herd produces fiber used to create a variety of alpaca products including:
- Alpaca yarn for knitters and crocheters
- Warm alpaca socks and accessories
- Rugs and home goods
- Raw fiber and roving for spinners and fiber artists
We believe understanding fiber from animal to finished product creates better materials and deeper appreciation for the craft.
Visitors and fiber enthusiasts are always welcome to learn more about alpacas, fiber preparation, and the art of working with this remarkable natural fiber.
