Chimera Ranch
Farm Overview
Nestled in the wide-open plains of Bennett, Chimera Ranch is a family-owned alpaca farm founded by Sandra and Norm Johnson in 2009. What began as a dream to step away from corporate life and build something meaningful has grown into a working ranch centered around exceptional alpaca fiber, thoughtful stewardship, and the slow craft of creating by hand.
At Chimera Ranch, alpacas are raised with a focus on fleece quality, sound genetics, and long-term herd health. The ranch works with both American and Canadian bloodlines to develop animals known for beautiful fiber, strong conformation, and calm temperaments. Fiber is at the heart of everything they do. Each year, the alpacas produce the luxurious fleece that becomes the foundation for the yarns, rovings, and wearable art created through Enchanted Fibers.
Chimera Ranch believes fiber should have a story. From the care of the herd to the finished skein or handcrafted garment, the goal is to honor the entire farm-to-fiber journey. Their work reflects a commitment to slow fashion, natural materials, and preserving the connection between maker, animal, and craft.
Beyond raising alpacas, Chimera Ranch supports the broader alpaca and fiber arts community through education, mentorship, breeding services, and hands-on experience in fiber processing and wearable art creation. Sandra and Norm continue to learn, share, and contribute to the alpaca industry while building a lifestyle rooted in creativity, craftsmanship, and stewardship.
Today, the fleece grown at Chimera Ranch lives on through the artisan yarns and one-of-a-kind creations of Enchanted Fibers — connecting the softness of alpaca fiber with the people who value handmade work, natural luxury, and the slower rhythm of thoughtful making.
