K-Ran Alpacas

K-Ran Alpacas is a Huacaya alpaca farm owned and operated by Karen and randy Strong, who brings more than 21 years of experience in the alpaca industry. The farm is home to approximately 26 alpacas, with about half of the herd co-owned in partnership with Shepherds Creek Alpacas. This long-standing partnership has continued for more than 14 years, with alpacas residing at both farms.

Our breeding program includes alpacas of many colors, with a strong focus on continually improving the quality of both our females and breeding males. Sound conformation is extremely important to us, as are genetics that can contribute positively to future generations. We believe the foundation of a successful breeding program begins with exceptional females, and we place significant emphasis on evaluating and developing our maternal lines.

In addition to managing our own herd, we have spent more than 15 years helping other alpaca owners and assisting with the management of multiple farms. Education has become an important part of what we do, particularly helping owners better understand their animals, breeding programs, and show preparation.

Showing has always been a special interest at K-Ran Alpacas. We enjoy teaching others how to properly present their alpacas in the show ring because showing is about more than competition. It is an opportunity to represent your farm, showcase your breeding program, and allow an alpaca to be presented at its best. That passion for showing goes back to earlier years spent on a dairy farm showing cattle in state competitions.

We also believe auctions can play an important role in the alpaca industry. They provide farms with an opportunity to showcase their breeding programs while giving other breeders access to new and potentially valuable genetics. We enjoy evaluating auction alpacas and helping breeders understand what to look for when selecting animals that complement their own breeding goals. K-Ran Alpacas has also participated as a consignor in multiple alpaca auctions.
